Why Canadian customers may prefer Amazon.com over Amazon.ca

Although Amazon.ca is the Canadian version of Amazon.com, there are reasons why Canadian buyers should consider purchasing books in this series from Amazon.com

  • All titles in this series are usually in stock at Amazon.com, and shipment is not delayed while books are ordered from the publisher, which is not true of Amazon.ca
  • Prices are competitive. In fact, you can expect substantial savings on most (not all) books in this series by ordering from Amazon.com
  • Shipping costs to Canada from Amazon.com may be a bit higher, but they are still reasonable (typically $9 for a single book). Shipping is from the U.S., so it will take longer (typically 10 days), but this disadvantage disappears when the books are already in stock and do not need to be ordered from the publisher.
  • There are no additional customs fees or GST, since these costs are included in shipping. Packages are generally mailed from the U.S. via DHL Global Mail. Once the package arrives in Canada, delivery is by Canada Post (Expedited Parcel).

Disadvantages of ordering from Amazon.com

  • U.S. prices will be converted to Canadian dollars. Although the conversion rate is better than many merchants, it's about 2 percent below the prevailing bank rate. Also, most credit card companies charge a service fee for international currency conversions (typically 3 percent). When the loonie is strong, these disadvantages are balanced by the low U.S. prices.
  • Amazon's SuperSaver free shipping rates (which usually apply to larger orders of several books) do not apply to international orders, so you'll have to pay for shipping.

If in doubt, compare the prices and book availability on Amazon.ca and Amazon.com to see which will benefit you best. In most cases, Canadian customers will find that Amazon.com is competitive (or superior) for orders of books in this series.
